Short and honest: AvatarForge sets no advertising cookies, no tracking cookies and no analytics cookies. The only thing it keeps is a small local preference — your light/dark theme choice — stored in your browser. Here are the details.

What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website can ask your browser to store. Local storage is a similar mechanism: a small key-value store that lives in your browser and is readable only by the same site. Both are used to remember things between visits — and both stay on your device unless the site sends them somewhere.

What AvatarForge uses

• Theme preference (local storage, essential). When you switch between light and dark mode, the site remembers your choice by writing it to your browser's local storage. It is read only by the site itself to restore the theme on your next visit. It never leaves your device and contains nothing personal.

That is the entire list. We don't currently use cookies for sessions (there are no accounts to log into), for analytics (we run none) or for advertising (there is none).

No consent banner — and why

Under typical interpretations of consent rules (such as the EU ePrivacy framework), strictly necessary storage and purely functional local preferences like a theme setting do not require a consent banner. Rather than showing you a distracting popup for a single non-personal preference, we simply explain everything here, transparently.

How to clear local data

You can delete this preference at any time through your browser settings — look for "Cookies and site data" or "Clear browsing data", then remove data for this site. Your theme will simply reset to the default on your next visit. Clearing site data never affects anything else, because nothing else is stored.

Future changes

If we ever add features that need more storage — analytics, advertising or accounts — this policy will be updated first, the "Last updated" date above will change, and we will seek consent where the law requires it. Until then, what you read here is the whole truth.
